Guy began his USAF career as an F4 pilot and eventually became a test pilot and NASA Shuttle astronaut. His two flights in space were as pilot of Space Shuttle missions STS-27 and STS-35. Command positions included Head of the USAF Test Pilot School and NASA Associate Administrator for Space Flight (Russian). After leaving the military, Guy joined the FAA assuming leadership as Director of the FAA Technical Center and FAA Associate Administrator for Regulation and Certification.
Since leaving government service, Guy has served as a high school mathmatics and physics teacher, as Principal and Director for Omega Systems Group, and as Vice President for Space Flight Development for Space Adventures, Ltd.
Guy is still married to Linda who is an elementary school teacher. They have 3 adult children - Jennifer, Sarah, and Jason. Jennifer and her husband Scott Teems have given Guy and Linda have one grandchild - McCabe. (Info dated: April 2005)
