After graduation from UPT, Ron spent 2 years flying WC-130s out of Guam followed by a tour at Korat RTAFB flying EC-130s. He then went to Keesler AFB, MS and separated from the USAF there after 10 years of active duty.
Ron joined the AF Reserves and spent the next 12 years flying hurricanes - he retired in 1992.
His civilian career covered flying with Transamerica Airlines (furloughed), a company in Africa, and then a commuter airline, which went bankrupt. He then moved to Southwest Airlines in 1987 and is with them today as a 737 captain based in Baltimore, MD. His civilian career will end in 2005 due to the manatory FAA Age 60 rule.
Ron has two grown daughters: Kerry (32) and Tracy (28), two grandaughters: Grayn (14 mos) and Julianna (9 mos), a son Ben Taliaferro (30), and significant other Pam Taliaferro who is a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. (Info dated: April 2005)
